East Hants Ground Search and Rescue
On September 30th, 1980, at the Noel Shore Community Hall a public meeting was held by EMO co-ordinator Paul Densmore, to discuss the need for a local search and rescue organization as East Hants has large area's off wooded area.
Shortly after, in 1980, the East Hants Ground Search and Rescue was founded to assist RCMP and local authorities in searching and rescuing people in distress. On December 12th, 1980 the team was first utilized for a search in the Lake Killarney area near Oxford.
Pugwash Ground Search and Rescue
Pugwash Ground Search & Rescue is a small team servicing Cumberland County, north of the TransCanada. The team was formed in 1978 . In 1988 the members financed and built the PGSAR building in the Village of Pugwash and is used for meetings, training and events. Team meetings are held at 7pm the second Tuesday of every month with a training night the following Tuesday. There are also occasional weekend training sessions.
Colchester Ground Search and Rescue
CGSARA home base in locate at 73 Ventura Avenue, Debert Nova Scotia, This building houses vehicles, and equipment storage, offices, kitchen, and training classroom. With permission of the owner the team, also takes full advantage of the surrounding wilderness areas to conduct valuable training. The team is one of the larger teams in the Nova Scotia Ground Search and Rescue Association’s central zone, with its main area of primary responsibility being Colchester County.
